Man rescued from fire at North Shields block of flats
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the Knott Memorial Flats, off Tynemouth Road, at around 10.45am on Tuesday.
It is believed the fire was in a ground-floor flat but it is not yet known how the blaze started or what injuries the casualty had.

Hide AdA spokesman from the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got the call at 10.47am.
“We attended with four engines - two from Tynemouth, one from South Shields and one from Wallsend.
“When we got there we found a male casualty that we were able to rescue who was attended to by paramedics at the scene.
“He was then taken to the RVI in Newcastle.
“We are still at the scene at this time doing fire investigations.”
