POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a generator theft from a trading estate in Alnwick.
On Wednesday, September 21, officers received a report that thieves had broken into a compund at Willowtree Trading Estate and stole a generator worth several thousand pounds.
Following enquiries, police have arrested a 36-year-old man from the South Shields area on suspicion of theft.
Chief Inspector Peter Reeve of Northumberland Area Command said: “Nationally, we’ve seen a rise in metal-related thefts and this arrest should reassure the public that we’re taking action. We’re following up enquiries into this offence and with the public’s continued help we will continue to crack down on those who come into Northumberland to commit crimes.”
Officers in the Alnwick area are carrying out extra patrols and are appealing for anyone who sees any suspicious vehicles, people or behaviour where they live to contact police on 03456 043 043 ext 69191 or 999 in an emergency.
