A MAN has died after an accident at a north Northumberland quarry.
Emergency services were called to an incident at Longhoughton Quarry on Saturday, November 19, at 2.07pm, when a man operating machinery was found in deep water.
The driver of an excavator machine went into a hole which filled with water.
The man was brought out and paramedics treated him at the scene.
He was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital by RAF Boulmer where he was pronounced dead later that afternoon.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive are making inquiries into the incident.
Police are not yet in a position to name the 58-year-old Northumberland man who died.
