A MAN has died after the car he was driving collided with a lorry on the A1.
The 33-year-old, who has not yet been named, was airlifted to Newcastle RVI, by the Great North Air Ambulance, with multiple injuries, after the crash at around 5.30pm on Sunday
But he died overnight.
Police fire and ambulance crews attended the scene and paramedics and the on-board doctor worked to stablise the man before he was taken to hospital.
The A1 was closed in both directions for around four and a half hours after the collision to allow for investigations to take place.
Inquiries into the crash are ongoing.
