Man arrested after attempted robbery in Amble

Police investigating Saturday's attempted shop robbery in Amble have arrested a man.

The incident took place at the Queen Street Convenience Store around 6.30am on Saturday, but the offender left the premises empty-handed.

Following an investigation, a 23-year-old-man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and bailed pending further inquiries.

Inquiries are continuing and anyone with information should call Northern CID on 101, quoting reference number 280 of 25/02/17, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
