A man has been airlifted to hospital following a cycling accident in Northumberland this morning.
Around 10.30am today, the North East Ambulance Service asked for help from the Great North Air Ambulance Service after a man, described as in his 50s and local, fell from his bike near Bellingham.
He suffered chest and hip injuries and was attended by a community paramedic from Bellingham before the arrival of the helicopter. He was then assessed and treated by the aircrew doctor before being flown to the RVI in Newcastle.
His injuries were described as serious/severe, but his condition on arrival at hospital was stable.
