Man airlifted to hospital after crash in Northumberland

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with ‘potentially serious injuries’ after a collision with a van in Northumberland.

The incident happened shortly before 4pm yesterday on the B6349, near Belford, and emergency services attended the scene.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) flew the 42-year-old man to hospital. A GNAAS spokesman said that the casualty had ‘suffered potentially serious head and chest injuries and shoulder and leg injuries’, but he was stable upon arrival at hospital.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police told the Gazette that the man’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening and inquiries into the collision are on going.
