Man accused of killing dad on A1

A man accused of killing a Belford father-of-three in a collision on the A1 has been sent for trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

Mathew Arran Crook, 26, of Albatross Way, Blyth, is charged with causing the death of Barry Carmon, by driving a Ford Transit dangerously.

The incident happened on April 8, 2017, at Newton on the Moor and Mr Carmon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 30-year-old, known as Baz, was a car enthusiast with a love for Subarus, and friends and family have held numerous tributes since his death.

Crook is set to make his first appearance at the crown court on Thursday, August 23, after the case was sent there by Berwick magistrates last week. He has been granted unconditional bail.
