Ofsted recently published the results for the inspections of early years and childcare providers which took place in July and August this year.
Seven were inspected in Northumberland with one being rated outstanding, five good and one as requires improvement.
In the North East as a whole, 80 were inspected with six outstanding, 57 good, 13 requiring improvement and one inadequate.
An Ofsted spokesman said: “Nurseries and other early years providers are getting better. These statistics show that four-fifths have been judged to be good or outstanding at their most recent inspection. However, the gaps for the poorest children are still too wide.”
As of August 31, there are 369 active providers in Northumberland; 46 are outstanding, 260 good, 59 require improvement and four are inadequate.
