A Kielder man has been disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to being nearly three times over the legal drink-drive limit.

Daniel Dunbar, 29, from Falstone, was stopped on September 16, along Derwent Road. He had 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

The court ordered him to pay £635.

○ A Morpeth woman has been given a 10-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, after committing her fourth drink-drive offence.

Deborah Karen Matthews, 56, of Norham Drive, pleaded guilty to being nearly two times over the limit.

She was stopped along Norham Drive in May this year, with 153 milligrammes of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

She has been disqualified from driving for four years, must pay £515 in costs and complete the drink impaired drivers’ programme.

○ Laura Jade Atkinson, 23, of Ark Royal Close, Blyth, has been given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. She pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to notify Northumberland County Council about a change of circumstances which would affect her entitlement to housing benefit, from a period of March 10, 2014, to August 10, 2016.

She needs to comply with a 12-month activity requirement and will have her benefit deducted by £200.

○ A Guide Post man has been ordered to have treatment for his drug dependency after admitting to stealing nearly £400 of items from shops.

Lance Hill, 36, of Back Mowbray Terrace, pinched goods such as meat, wine and chocolates in August and September. The court ordered him to pay £380 and serve a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 25 days.
