LUNCHEON: Helping the farm workers

The Northumberland branch of The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) held its annual summer luncheon on Sunday, July 10.

On one of the rare sunny days this year, the function was held in the newly revamped Le Petit Chateau in Otterburn, formerly the Percy Arms.

The Apartment Group has totally transformed the venue into a French-style wedding venue and hotel.

Some 122 guests enjoyed a fantastic four-course meal in the idyllic surroundings of the summer gardens.

This is one of the best luncheons we have held. Obviously, people wanted to come not only to support our charity, but to look around the new venue.

A raffle was held with prizes of weekend breaks, vouchers and numerous other prizes. We hope to have raised nearly £2,000 on the day, which is dearly needed by farmers and farm workers down on their luck.

We must thank both the hotel and the tremendous support we get from all those who attended.

Our next event is The Hill Billy Hog Roast, which will take place at Abberwick Farm on September 9, at 7pm, with a band, disco, hog roast and other attractions.

One of the attractions of the event is that people are welcome to bring tents or caravans and stay the night.

Please note that this event is a strictly ticket event. No ticket, no entry.
