Longhoughton Parish Council round-up

The scheme will include rock-toe protection, consisting of approximately one to four-tonne armour rock placed along the foot of the existing cliff line.

Earthworks (slope re-grading, filling to crest of slope and stabilisation works) will also be carried out in some areas.

• The annual parish meeting will take place on Monday, May 16, at Longhoughton’s Westfield Park at 7.30pm.

The event will give the opportunity for local organisations and groups to give a presentation and bring villagers up to date and residents are being encouraged to attend.

• The parish council has spoken of its desire to resurrect the community news publication, The Eagle, in a bid to improve communication and let residents know what is happening in the area.

• Coun Eleanor Phillips is analysing the results of a consultation regarding a potential one-way system on Lacey Street. She said: “We got a good response with about 17 residents reponding. The responses came in dribs and drabs and the various comments are so diverse. From my memory, the issues are around school times, when parents are picking up and dropping off their children.”

• Concerns have been reiterated about the state of the parish’s roads. Clerk Elizabeth Taylor said: “We are shouting about it and telling highways that the roads are damaged.”
