A long-standing Alnwick shop is to close as its owners have taken the ‘difficult’ decision to sell.
Collectables has been a part of Alnwick’s high street for the last 22 years.
The building, on Bondgate Within, is owned by the company and was one of the first to open, alongside the MetroCentre store.
But the store’s coffee shop has not traded well over the last few years, despite business in the shop doing well.
A spokeswoman for Collectables said: “We are saddened to make the decision to sell and close our property. This has been a really difficult decision as we have loved trading in this wonderful town and our committed staff have worked in the store for many, many years.
“We will be putting the store into a closing down sale this week and hope the residents of Alnwick will enjoy some great offers.
“The store was trading well but we had found the coffee shop and restaurant tough due to increased competition in the town, party due to our first floor location rather than walk in off the street positioning that many others enjoy.
“We would not rule out coming back to Alnwick in the future but would look for a larger site that gives us more scope to develop the store. We hope that whomever takes on this site will have a many great years trading as we have.”
Other North East stores will remain open.
