An Alnwick-based IT support company has found digital success with the help of a fully-funded training programme.
IT consultant Dave Gearing set up his own business, Hotspur Computing, in August 2014, having honed his expertise working in large IT departments for nearly 15 years. Having attended workshops with iNorthumberland Business Support, Dave quickly saw the potential benefits of undertaking the training and signed up to the e-learning portal which it runs.
The nine online courses – accessible from anywhere via an e-learning portal – include social media and cloud technologies. Participating SMEs can also attend face-to-face masterclasses to further their training and learn from experts in the field.
Qualifying businesses that complete the nine courses can apply for a year’s free superfast broadband – worth up to £400 – or may be able to claim back any costs if they are already using the service.
Dave said: “I’ve already noticed a difference since putting my new skills into practice.
“The website is significantly higher in the rankings and hopefully it will continue to move upwards
iNorthumberland and Northumberland County Council are keen to encourage all local businesses – whether a start-up or established company – to register at www.inorthumberlandbusiness.co.uk and experience the benefits for themselves.
The next workshop will run on Thursday, March 5, at Blyth Community and Enterprise Centre.
