A north Northumberland lifeboat was launched this morning to rescue a man cut off by the tide in what was its first call-out of 2015.
The Craster lifeboat crew was called out around 6.50am after a photographer became cut off by the tide at the rocks to the north of Howick Haven.
It involved a tricky approach in breaking waves, but the man was picked up successfully and returned to the shore. He was cold but unhurt. A HM Coastguard spokesman said he was given a cup of tea and then went on his way.
For the Craster crew, it was Matty Bolam’s first shout as helmsman and Yasmine Williams’ first call-out. Her father Keith was the third crew member.
