FOREST HALL 2

SPITTAL ROVERS 2

A second half strike from Jamie Punton proceeded a precise Gary Wales spot kick to complete a spirited Rovers comeback in this friendly against Northern Alliance League opposition, their first game in 11 weeks.

It was evidently clear that Paul Yeadon’s men had not been involved in a match situation for quite some time and this led to a tough opening 20 minutes for the men in black & white in which they found themselves two down in next to no time, struggling to cope with the neat passing game of their hosts.

The response was good once the Berwick side found their feet. They went close to scoring on several occasions before Wales pulled one back from the penalty spot.

Four players were introduced at the interval and they were rewarded with an equaliser from Punton who broke clear and finished confidently.
