An Alnwick woman has been fined £600 for failing to give information to police.
Syeda Amina Begum, 43, of Sycamore Avenue, was found guilty of the offence, after pleading not guilty.
The charge was that, in August last year, she failed to give information relating to the identification of a driver of a vehicle, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
On top of the fine, she has to pay £100 costs and a £60 surcharge. Her driving licence has also been endorsed with six penalty points.
○ A Belford man has admitted speeding on the A1 at 101mph.
David Else, 74, of Meadow Park, in Belford, was caught on a dual carriageway section near Alnwick on February 15.
He told Berwick magistrates that he was trying to get home quickly to help his wife deal with a medical issue. He got six penalty points and must pay £235 in fines and costs.
○ An Alnwick man has been fined £180 for being drunk and disorderly.
The case against Alan Brown, 45, of Tower Lane, was proved in his absence.
The offence took place in the town’s Bondgate Within on Sunday, May 6.
He also needs to pay £85 costs and a £35 surcharge.
○ A thief has been jailed for nine months.
Ryan Harland, 27, of West View, Pegswood, admitted stealing three bottles of wine from Lidl, Morpeth, on Sunday, June 10. He also breached a criminal behaviour order (CBO).
The offences occurred while he was serving a suspended-prison sentence for a previous theft and CBO breach.
Magistrates sent him to prison for 36 weeks, saying that he had a flagrant disregard for court orders and for his record of offending.
