An area of beach at Seahouses has been cordoned off after an explosive device was found today.
Police were informed about the incident, at St Aidan’s, by Humber Coastguard at around 5.15pm and the Ministry of Defence has been told..
It is thought that the device could be an old ordinant washed up on the beach.
Mike Green, watch manager for Humber Coastguard, said the area has been cordoned off and the bomb disposal squad will be attending tomorrow morning to dispose of the device.
He added: “We would advise any members of the public to keep clear of the area.”
