Last shift for experienced policeman
But after seven years covering the Alnwick sector, and giving a total of nearly four decades of service for the military and Northumbria Police, the 54-year-old is retiring.

Hide AdThe father-of-two’s last shift was Tuesday, although he officially leaves in January.
He has thanked residents for their help and support and said: “I will miss Rothbury and Alnwick, but it has got to the stage where it is time to do something else.”
To mark his retirement, PC Brown laid the police wreath at Rothbury war memorial on Remembrance Sunday. It was a special moment, as this duty is normally reserved for senior police officers.

Hide AdPC Brown followed in the policing footsteps of his father and grandfather and his retirement brings an end to a family connection with the Northumberland county constabulary dating back to 1923. PC Brown has also served in Germany.
