Landscapes with the wow factor

Alnwick and District Camera Club held its Projected Image Set Subject competition for the Northumberland Plate Trophy.

This year the photographs had to be on the subject of Landscape and taken in Northumberland.

The subject was interpreted in many ways, including day and night time shots of the land and sea.

Shots also included early morning atmospheric pictures and images taken with long exposures to produce unusual photographs of moving water.

Fifty images were entered into the competition from 17 members and they were then judged by the 29 club members, who attended the meeting.

Two of David Burn’s images, Guyzance Curve and Warkworth Castle, and Margaret’s monochrome image called Skyline of Trees were commended.

Highly commended images came from Andrew Mackie, Cheviot and Hedgehope from Cartington, Gordon Charlton with Duddo Path and Jean Findlay, Cheviot Foothills.

Night at the Pavilion by Jane Coltman was in fourth place.

Early Morning Mist, taken in Swarland forest by Richard Stent, was third.

Jane Coltman also came in second place with Poppies at Lesbury.

The outright winner was another of David Burn’s photographs, a stunning image of the moving sea and dramatic sky as the sun rises with Bamburgh Castle in the far distance. The shot was aptly called Wisps at Dawn.
