The householders expressed a desire for private parking spaces after experiencing increased levels of traffic congestion in the area, particularly during the height of the tourist season in the summer.

Having taken this feedback on board, Northumberland County Council has now completed the sale of a small plot of land on Ingram Road, which will now be converted into an off-road parking area by the residents.

The deal, which was completed with assistance from chartered surveyor and estate agent Bradley Hall, will see the new parking spaces built next to existing private dwellings.

Grant Davey, leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “We’re delighted to complete the Ingram Road sale, which will provide the ability for these residents to create off-road parking for themselves. We’ve listened to feedback and have managed to secure an outcome that will improve the quality of life for these residents.”
