Kids have designs on the 2016 Olympics

The outfits of British Olympians taking part in the 2016 games in Brazil will be uppermost in the minds of young designers taking part in this year’s Warkworth Show.

Boys and girls will be devising clothing that would look great on the athletes competing at the Rio event.

The design competitions are among dozens of classes for youngsters aged five to 18 to enter in the 141st annual show which takes place in the grounds of Warkworth Castle on Saturday, August 18.

Other attractions include the popular 2.5k fun run, displays of flowers, fruits, vegetables, preserves, cookery, handicrafts, art, poetry and photography, a fun dog show, gun dog demonstration, Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band, children’s fancy dress, young dancers and Magic Myrtle.

The day’s activities begin at 10am. Admission prices are: Adults £6 (£5 concessions); children aged five to 16 £3 (under-fives free); family ticket £15 and English Heritage members free.

More than 1,000 schedules listing all the show items are being distributed throughout Warkworth and to previous show participants. The schedules, which contain entry forms and the timetable of events, can also be downloaded from Copies are also available from Lydia Davis on 01665 714576.
