Kayakers rescued by coastguard off Amble coast

A group of kayakers were rescued by the coastguard after they got into difficulty off the coast of Amble.

Amble Coastguard Rescue Team were called on Tuesday, September 8, to help a group of kayakers who got into trouble when the weather conditions changed.

The group managed to make it onto Coquet Island, but due to the weather conditions they were unable to make it safely back into Amble harbour.

The Amble RNLI lifeboat reached the group on Coquet Island and took them safely back to Amble Harbour where they were met by Amble Coastguard who carried out a welfare check and offered advice.

In all coastal emergencies members of the public are reminded to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
