Alnwick’s fabulous floral efforts underwent the expert eye of the Northumbria in Bloom judges last Thursday, as part of spring judging.
During the visit, the panel were treated to the vast array of beautiful blooms around the town, including at Bowburn, in between Alnwick Castle and Garden.
Judges Pamela Dive and Rod Mathieson were shown around by Alnwick in Bloom chairman Elizabeth Jones, vice-chairman Jenny MacDowell and secretary Kathleen Bradford, who are all pictured above.
Afterwards, Rod emailed the team to say thank you for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, and added: ‘We enjoyed our visit very much and were impressed by the splendid planters and tubs we saw round the town. Good luck for your entry.’
The judges will return to Alnwick in July for summer judging. In last year’s Northumbria in Bloom contest, Alnwick scooped gold and won the town category.
