A seven-year-old from north Northumberland will be running a mile a day in June as he takes on a More Than A Marathon challenge to raise charity cash.
From today, Joe Denny, a pupil at Warkworth Primary School, will be running at least a mile every day – a total of at least 30 – to raise funds for the Toby Henderson Trust, a charity which helps children affected by autism and their families in the North East.
The Trust runs a programme of early intervention not available through the NHS and recent funding cuts could affect its ability to continue to provide this service.
Joe has already reached his initial target of raising £1,000, but the more that can be raised for this worthy cause the better.
To run alongside this sponsored event, a raffle of ‘local things for local people’ has also been organised in the hope of collecting more money for the Toby Henderson Trust.
So far, there have been a variety of generous donations from the likes of the Fenwick Gallery in Warkworth, Gallery 45 in Felton, Whitehouse Farm Centre, Alnwick Castle, The Alnwick Garden, Spurreli ice cream in Amble and Adventure Northumberland.
