UNEMPLOYMENT figures in the North East had decreased in the last quarter, according to figures from the Office of National Statistics.
According to data released yesterday there has been a 0.9 per cent decrease in the number of unemployed people in the region down to 10.8 per cent compared to the previous three month period.
Nationally unemployment figures rose from 8.3 per cent to 8.4 per cent with the North East still having the highest rate of unemployment, despite figures dropping.
The North East saw an increase of 1.4 per cent in employment rates, the highest increase in the country. But the region still has the lowest number of people in work at 66.5 per cent.
Figures for those on Jobseekers Allowance rose by 0.1 per cent to 7.4 per cent.
