Jewellery and cash taken in multiple burglaries in Northumberland

All four incidents happened overnight on Wednesday and jewellery and cash were taken.

At 11.28pm, police received a report that a flat on Main Street, Seahouses, had been burgled. The offenders had searched the premises and stolen a safe containing jewellery and cash and left without being seen.

Between 11pm on Wednesday and 8.30am the next day, thieves broke into the Queen’s Head Pub on Front Street, Glanton. They searched the premises and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the till and charity boxes, before leaving unseen.

Thieves also forced entry from the rear of the Milan Restaurant on High Street, in Wooler, overnight between 11.30pm on Wednesday and 9am yesterday. They stole an undisclosed quantity of cash and left without being seen.

In Rothbury, a burglary was reported at the Railway Hotel, on Bridge Street, when offenders got into the premises overnight between 10pm on Wednesday and 9.10am yesterday. It is believed they left empty handed.

Neighbourhood Inspector Liz Hall said: “Officers are making inquiries into these offences and are appealing for help from the public. We’d ask if anyone was in the area at the time of the offences and may have seen or heard anything suspicious, to get in contact.

“We’d ask people to be vigilant and contact the police if they see any suspicious activity. Anyone with concerns can speak to a neighbourhood officer.

“We have additional officers on patrol in these areas carrying out inquiries.”
