JESSIE J’s Alnwick Pastures concert looks set to be a sell-out as more than half the tickets have been snapped up less than 24 hours after it was announced.
Ticket booking lines have been inundated with calls as concert-goers rush to secure their date with the international pop superstar.
And organisers KAL Music told the Gazette that by 5pm today (Thursday, April 26) 5,298 tickets had been sold by seetickets.com alone.
Director Keith Louch said he anticipates it to be sold out by the weekend.
Jessie J will be headlining the event on July 21 at what is expected to be the biggested event of its kind in the town - with an expected crowd of 12,000.
And as tickets went on sale from 8am this morning, fans have been ringing Alnwick Playhouse and The Maltings at Berwick in their droves to make sure they have a chance to see her as well as logging on.
At Alnwick Playhouse, a dedicated Jessie J hotline was set up to help lighten the load but staff have been overwhelmed by the number of calls and in-person sales that have been made, even opening an hour early to deal with demand.
Theatre manager Jo Potts said: “It’s been non-stop since we opened at 9am this morning when there was a queue outside the door. We’ve probably sold as many in the first day as we sold in a month for Status Quo last year.
“It’s absolutely manic.”
About Jessie J, she added: “It’s great to have someone so relevant. I think it will be a sell-out, it’s just a question of when.”
And at The Maltings, it was just as busy.
Tamiko Mackie, marketing and development manager and film programmer at The Maltings, said: “The phones have been smoking. It’s been mental, they haven’t stopped. It’s been one of the busiest days ever.
“And it’s not just people from Berwick and the borders we’ve had people from all over the region getting in touch.”
Tickets are £32.50 per adult, and £22.50 per child plus a booking fee from Alnwick Playhouse on a dedicated Jessie J line – 01665 510898 – and The Maltings on 01289 330999 or online at www.seetickets.com
