Ken Davidson, from Rothbury, and Clyde Thompson, of Cragside, headed west to join up with groups of male and female veterans who are casualties of war, either physically or mentally.

The main group was from Phoenix House in Catterick, a recovery centre run by Help for Heroes and supported by the Royal British Legion.
