It's ho-ho-go for lights switch-ons in villages

Here's a guide to some of the Christmas lights switch-ons in north Northumberland.

ALNMOUTH

Saturday: Outside the Hindmarsh Hall, 5pm. Includes a visit from Santa Claus.

BEADNELL

Tomorrow: Service at St Ebba’s Church at 6pm. Lights switch-on at 6.30pm at the Bullring, with Santa and one of his elves. Also appearing is the skiff made by the Bamburgh and Beadnell Community Skiff Project. Festive refreshments at WI Hall from 7pm.

BELFORD

Saturday: Switch-on at 4pm.

HADSTON

Saturday: 4pm to 6pm.

LONGHOUGHTON

Sunday, December 10: Christmas tree and lights festival. Starts at 4pm at St Peter and St Paul’s Church followed by nativity and lantern trail. From 5pm there will be Christmas festivities at Longhoughton Community Centre.

TOGSTON

Sunday: Christmas fair, in Christ Church Hall, from 5.30pm, with tree lights switched on at 6pm.

WOOLER

Sunday, December 3: 5k fun run at 11am, with registration at the bus stop from 10.30am, Christmas market in the bus station at noon with an elves lantern-making workshop for children for the afternoon parade. Lights switched on at 4.30pm, followed by Santa. Also, refreshments and community carol singing.
