It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Here’s a guide to some of the Christmas lights switch-ons in north Northumberland.


Saturday, December 2: Outside the Hindmarsh Hall, 5pm. Includes a visit from Santa Claus.


Saturday: Service at St Aidan’s Church at 5.30pm, followed by switch-on at 6.15pm.


Friday, December 1: Service at St Ebba’s Church at 6pm. Lights switch-on at 6.30pm at the Bullring, with Santa and one of his elves. Also appearing is the skiff made this year by the Bamburgh and Beadnell Community Skiff Project. Mulled wine and mince pies at the WI Hall from 7pm.


Saturday, December 2: 4pm to 6pm.


Saturday: Parade of lanterns from Haugh car park at 5.30pm to Newcastle House/Armstrong Cross. Entertainment/carol singing ahead of 6pm switch-on and fireworks. Refreshments then served in All Saints’ Church with entertainment. Christmas raffle to be drawn at this event.


Sunday, December 3: Christmas fair, in Christ Church Hall, from 5.30pm, with tree lights switched on at 6pm.


Tomorrow: Dial Place, 6pm. With snow machine, choir and visit from Father Christmas.


Sunday, December 3: 5k fun run at 11am, with registration at the bus stop from 10.30am, Christmas market in the bus station at noon with an elves lantern-making workshop for children for the afternoon parade. Lights switched on at 4.30pm, followed by Santa. Also, refreshments and community carol singing.
