INITIATIVE: Helping young to have fun

In 1991, the Multi Agency Crime Prevention Initiative, better known as MACPI, was formed.

Our remit is to steer young people away from crime, drugs and alcohol abuse by funding diversionary activities.

We meet bi-monthly as a small committee with charitable status to consider bids for these events, such as those preparing for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme, like our army and air cadets.

Others we support include Alnwick Amateur Boxing Club, Alnwick Town Football Club Juniors, Contagious Youth Club, Mighty Oaks coffee van and Community@NE66 play schemes, and indeed many more over the last 25 years.

This is only possible thanks to the generosity of Alnwick people and local shopkeepers.

Thank you for filling our blue collecting tins with your loose change too.

We just wanted you to know where your money goes and how we help youngsters to have fun in the town.

If it’s youth, if it’s Alnwick and you want to know how, then it’s MACPI you need.
