Members of the public are being invited along to a popular Indian restaurant tonight to check out its new look following a major refit.

Mivesi, in Alnwick’s Market Place, has undergone the transformation in recent weeks, to give it a ‘glitzy, glamorous feel’.

People are encouraged to come along to the venue from 6.30pm to see the change for themselves.

Alnwick Mayor Bill Grisdale will be cutting the ribbon and is set to cook a curry.

Saxophonist Jonny Diggens, aka Jonny D, will be performing on the night and there will also be a raffle for a 32-inch television. Raffle tickets will be available on the night and proceeds will go to a local charity. Gift vouchers will also be handed out.

There will be canapés on the night and people are welcome to have a sit-down meal, but booking is advised beforehand by calling 01665 606947. People can bring their own drink, but Prosecco will be available.

The restaurant is owned by husband and wife team Amina Begum and Roy Uddin. Amina said: “We took over in 2012 and we felt it was time to put our mark on it. We have made it more plush-looking and glitzy, with chandeliers, velvet and leather.”
