‘Important’ strategy to determine future

Affordable housing and the spread of windfarms are among issues Rothbury parish councillors will scrutinise as they respond to a planning document that will shape Northumberland for years.

County councillor Steven Bridgett told fellow members of Rothbury Parish Council at this month’s meeting: “This is probably one of the most important documents you are going to be consulted on for the next 10 to 15 years. It sets the future for Rothbury in terms of building and development.”

Chairman Coun Jeff Reynalds said opinions had been sought at a recent meeting between the county and the local cluster of parish councils on whether the county assessment of wind farms was appropriate and if it was safeguarding Northumberland.

Members said affordable homes should be scattered across a development.
