Ill man airlifted from Holy Island

A man who was suffering from chest pains was airlifted from Holy Island this morning.

North East Ambulance Service contacted Humber Coastguard Operations Centre at 8.30am to request assistance.

Holy Island Coastguard Rescue Team provided medical assistance to the casualty and set up a helicopter landing site (HLS) for Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 999.

After a short period of time Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 999 arrived on scene and assessed the casualty before transporting the casualty to hospital where Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade set up HLS.
