The competition, which is in its 57th year, will take part for the first time in Quebec City’s newly opened state of the art 18,000 capacity Videotron Centre.

Daniel’s parents said they are incredibly proud of him and are very grateful for the support that he has received from the school.

They said: “Being selected to represent England has been an incredible achievement for Daniel and it has been achieved through hard work and dedication to his sport.

“It has also been made possible due to the support given by Kings Priory School, which has enabled Daniel to attend his weekly training sessions and play his club hockey over 130 miles away at Ice Sheffield.”

Over 1,100 previous participants have played or are playing in the National Hockey League.
