Hundreds of homes in Northumberland affected by power cut

Almost 900 homes were affected by a power cut in Northumberland last night.

A total of 895 properties in the NE71 Wooler area suffered, following a problem with a sub-station. Northern Powergrid was made aware of the issue at 8.25pm.

The power was restored by a generator and all affected properties were reconnected by 2.25am.

The Northern Powergrid spokesman said that repairs need to be carried out to the sub-station.
