Howick WI, November meeting

VILLAGE VOICES: Autumn is in the air, and the clocks have gone back. The November meeting of Howick WI saw 14 members gather in the Copeley Hall.

Guests came from Warkworth, Alnmouth, Lesbury, Longhoughton and Boulmer, Craster and Embleton.

The entertainment for the evening were Village Voices, a group of about 30 people from villages local to Seahouses.

Fiona went through the various invitations, Winnie confirmed our Christmas dinner and it is to be on December 12, and that Di will circulate menus as soon as possible.

We also had a reminder that we will meet on Tuesday, December 6, and not the Wednesday. Winnie then introduced our entertainment.

We all sat back and what a treat for us.

They collectively sang a medley of songs that many of us knew, toes were tapping in no time at all.

I have never seen so many smiling faces, which clearly showed just what fun they were having. Their finale was from The Sound of Music. We were all encouraged to join in, and we did. However, the final number of the night was Jerusalem and we were all wonderful.

Supper took on a slightly different form, finger food. It was certainly up to our usual standard and the tea was as good as ever.

Many of our visitors went away with raffle prizes.

Competition winner for something beginning with R was Anne Thorndyke.

The tea ladies did a wonderful job washing well over 70 cups, saucers and plates. Everyone left the hall to go home after another lovely evening.
