Applicant John Thompson wants to build two houses on ‘0.35 hectares of unproductive paddock’ to the west of Heather Cottage, Front Street, Glanton.

According to a design and access statement, the two units are designed to mimic a traditional farm steading with one having the look of a farmhouse and the other being designed to look like traditional farm buildings.

One of the detached dwellings would have an integral garage and the other a detached garage.

The scheme was originally submitted in November last year, but was withdrawn before being resubmitted last month.

In nearby Whittingham, applicant Chris McCann is seeking permission for three detached, three-bedroom properties at Treetops East.

Due to the gradient, the proposed dwellings ‘would sit below the current ridge height of the existing property’ and would ‘utilise rooms within the roof space to reduce the visual impact of the structures’.
