Plans for eight new homes in the centre of Alnmouth have been lodged with the county council.
The application is for a site behind the Schooner Hotel, which is currently vacant, having previously been used as part of the hotel site alongside the squash courts.
Next to the 0.2-hectare site is parking for the apartments which have been created to the rear of the Schooner and it is accessed from Estuary Drive, off Riverside Road.
A planning statement by George F White, on behalf of applicant Mr J Orde, says the site is previously developed land and ‘would form a sensible and reasonable infill within the village’.
The scheme would feature eight properties, each with its own garden/amenity areas and parking, and ‘the intention is to create a spacious layout including a mix of properties, including detached properties, bungalows and townhouses’, according to the planning statement.
At the bottom of the slope would be four two-and-a-half-storey, three-bedroom houses in a row.
Moving up the hill from the entrance to Estuary Drive would be three one-and-a-half-storey detached houses, two of one design and one of another.
At the top of the slope would be a single, detached bungalow.
