Half of the first houses released at Story Homes’ new development in Longhoughton have been sold within three weeks of its launch.

Earlier this year, the award-winning housebuilder had plans approved to build 66 properties to the north of Station Road.

Work started on-site during the summer, with the development – named Chancel Place – officially launching in late September.

Chancel Place comprises a collection of semi-detached and detached three, four and five-bedroom family homes across a range of 10 house types.

The development will also feature a number of affordable houses.

Gillian Bell, sales manager at Story Homes, said: “We expected Chancel Place to be popular, but sales in the first three weeks have exceeded our expectations and indicate that there will be high demand for this development.

“We have had interest from a wide variety of buyers so far, including local residents, families looking to move out of the city and even those searching for a holiday home.

“Longhoughton is a great place to live – residents can experience the benefits of rural village life combined with the close proximity of the coast and countryside and excellent transport links to nearby towns and major cities to the north and south.

“We believe that we are offering something different from other developers in the North East with our high specification that comes as standard, from our partner brands such as Porcelanosa, Kelly Hoppen and Crosswater, as well as fully turfed front and rear gardens. We are now based on-site in our marketing suite and are looking forward to continuing to meet potential buyers and introducing them to the development.”

According to figures calculated by the Home Builders Federation, the building of 66 homes will support the employment of nearly 300 people, including apprentices and trainees.

As part of this, Story Homes is inviting anyone interested in working on its Chancel Place site, particularly bricklayers, to email communications@storyhomes.co.uk to register their interest.
