Hipsburn on target to win Wooler Tournament

The 2016 Wooler Football Tournament was hailed an enormous success as boys and girls from north Northumberland enjoyed a fantastic day at the Wooler First School Summer Fair, hosted for the first occasion at the joint location of Glendale Middle School complex.

The tournament, which is sponsored and organised by Trident Soccer, included eight teams from Amble First School, Hipsburn First School, Warkworth CE First School as well as, Wooler First School.

Hipsburn United, followed on from last month’s success in the Hipsburn Tournament, by claiming the Wooler Championship title in a thrilling encounter, winning the final 1 - 2 against hosts, Wooler United.

Wooler First School and Glendale Middle School Head-teacher, Mr Deane-Hall said: “I’d like to congratulate everyone who participated in the event including all the boys and girls, parents, managers, supporters and school staff.

“I would also like to thank the Trident Soccer coaching team as well as FA referee Peter Taylor and Shaun Jobson, who officiated the event.”

Trident Soccer Director Ryan Jobson said: “I would like to thank everyone who participated today; the children really enjoyed the tournament and it was a great experience for everyone involved.

“We appreciate the support from parents and our partner schools and also thank Wooler First School for staging the event.

“It is extremely rewarding to see children having immense fun and our inter-school tournaments often paves the way forward for youngsters to play for junior clubs.”

Trident Soccer will be running a coaching camps at school venues throughout north Northumberland during the summer holidays including Berwick; Hipsburn, Seahouses, Thropton, Whittingham and Wooler.
