Hillbilly down to the farm

The Hillbilly Hogroast and Hootenanny is being held at Abberwick Farm, home to farming family the Fraters.

It is back by popular demand, after a similar event four years ago.

It is being held to raise money for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and The Great North Air Ambulance Service.

The event features The Kingsize Voodoo Travellers Band – from the North East and made up of Ally Lee, Bruce Campbell, Garry Scott and Goerge Waters – and the Mike Hope Roadshow, as well as hillbilly attractions.

There will be a hog roast –as the name suggests – and a bar.

There will also be a disco late into the night for guests to dance the night away

The event in 2012 raised more than £3,000 for the two charities and organisers are hoping to smash this amount this year.

Tickets for the event are proving popular, with only a limited amount still available.

They cost £15, which includes the hog roast, and must be bought in advance as the event is strictly ticket-only with no admittance to anyone without one.

Guests are invited to dress up as hillbillys but also dress for the weather as the event is outside, with wellies possibly needed.
