Helping to create a relaxing space

Alnwick Lions Club, with help from the town's Northumbria Pets, have supplied the Duchess's Community High School with a fish tank to use in a calm space.

Naomi Hutchinson, SENDCo and Assistant Head, said: “We are very grateful to Alnwick Lions for the donation of the fish tank.

“We will be using it in the new section of our building as part of a calm room we are creating to give students some sensory, relaxing space.

“For some of our students with additional needs, the busy nature of a big school can be tiring and overstimulating at times, so creating this space will be a big help for them in being able to enjoy and feel calm at school each day.”
