A cake stall will be at Amble Health Centre, on Percy Drive, on Saturday to try to aid the cause.

Running in tandem with this will be a drop-in flu clinic from 9am to 1pm for everyone eligible for a flu vaccination, including all carers .

The quadrivalent flu vaccine will be on offer this year, which protects against four flu viruses.

Broomhill Health Centre, in Hadston, will also be open on Saturday at the same time.

No appointment is necessary at either premises – just come along for your flu vaccination.

As well as this, Amble Health Centre will have an additional drop-in session on Saturday, September 30, from 9am to 1pm, and further clinics are planned on weekdays at Amble and Broomhill Health centres, with dates to be announced.

Urgent repairs are needed to Amble War Memorial, in the Town Square, and the community has already rallied round to raise more than £5,000 for the cause.

And last month, a grant of up to £30,000 was secured from the War Memorials Trust, supported by the First World War Memorials Programme, to aid the scheme.

The funding represents 56 per cent of the total cost to restore the war memorial.
