The Old Boat House has made the shortlist for the Coastal Fish Restaurant of the Year, as part of the annual Fishing News Awards.

The eatery won the same category last year, so it is in contention to defend its crown at the 2017 ceremony, to be staged in Aberdeen on May 25.

Specialising in serving fresh fish from local boats where possible, the restaurant has gained a dedicated fan base for its celebration of British seafood, friendly service and picturesque harbour views.

The Old Boat House is up against The Idle Rocks Restaurant (St Mawes, Cornwall); Octopus (Guernsey, Channel Islands); Pysgoty (Aberystwyth, Wales); River Exe Cafe (Exmouth, East Devon); Rockfish (Brixham, Devon); Samphire (Inveraray, Scotland); Skipness Seafood Cabin (Tarbert, Scotland); The Snack Shack (Dungeness, Kent) and Upstairs @ Joes (Co. Antrim, N.Ireland).

A public vote is up and running and people are being encouraged to show their support before the Friday, April 28, deadline. To vote, visit www.fishing news.co.uk/awards
