A NEW Clydesdale heavy horse show is set to take place in north Northumberland.

The show will be held at The Fenton Centre, Wooler on Sunday, May 1.

This is the first show dedicated to Clydesdale horses to be held in the region for a very long time, and it is hoped there will be entries from all over the region as well as further afield.

There will be seven classes including mare and foal sections along with championships for male and female before the overall show champion is selected.

Helen Henderson, owner of The Fenton Centre, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this show at Fenton.

“There was a long tradition of horse fairs being held at Fenton at the beginning of the last century, indeed some of our older visitors have commented that they came to the horse fairs as children.

“Unlike the old fair this show will be dedicated to Clydesdales and we hope to have a good turnout of these magnificent working horses on the day.”

There will be a food and craft market, and children’s entertainment ensuring a fun day out for all the family. Gates open at 10am with judging starting at 11am prompt.

Cost of entry is £7 for adults, £4 for children and concessions and a family ticket is available for £15.00.
