Residents are being encouraged to take up their NHS Health Check when invited.
The free check is part of a national scheme to help prevent the onset of heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, dementia and other serious health conditions.
These conditions often do not cause any symptoms at the early stages and only become apparent when they cause complications.
Early detection and treatment is important to help reduce the risk of developing long-term health problems.
The check is aimed at residents aged 40 to 74 and should take less than 20 minutes. It will look at your lifestyle; family medical history; cholesterol levels; blood pressure. If there is a problem, you‘ll be given plenty of help and advice to make the necessary lifestyle changes.
