A nationwide campaign which sheds light on dementia is being backed by Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust is backing the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Awareness Week which started on Monday.

More than 1,000 staff have already committed to turning their understanding into action by becoming a Dementia Friend during the last year, with some going on to become Dementia Champions.

Trust chairman Hugh Morgan Williams, said: “During Dementia Awareness Week, our services, wards and teams will be running dementia friends sessions, information stalls, afternoon tea events, exploring the use of music to promote memories and interaction and education workshops.”
