A drop-in session to give residents the chance to have their say on proposals to tackle parking problems in and around Alnmouth Station takes place today.

Northumberland County Council has put forward a potential pilot scheme to introduce a £3-a-day charge in the car park on the northbound platform side.

A trial residents’ parking-permit initiative in Hipsburn would run in conjunction with this.

It comes as a permanent, maximum 72-hour stay restriction is already due to come into effect on the northbound platform side this summer.

Today’s drop-in session will be held at Lesbury Village Hall from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

Details of the proposals will be on display and council officers will be there to answer any queries.

The county council will then consider the feedback and, depending on the outcome, the trial could be introduced later this summer.
